Naimisha Aranya

Naimisha Aranya, Nelamangala

Spread across 3.75 acres on the outskirts of Bengaluru, this family home sits amidst a thriving natural farm that has slowly been brought back to life using the principles of Zero Budget Natural Farming. Today, the land is home to over 200 fruit trees, countless birds, butterflies and other visitors attracted by the farm's biodiversity

At the heart of the farm is a beautiful 2,400 sq.ft. courtyard home sustainably built, that takes one back in time to Karnataka’s courtyard homes of yore. Blending a few modern conveniences with the traditional, this house is a delicate work of architecture serving as an ode to mud-based construction, natural dye paints and reused materials.

Large verandahs, an open courtyard and generous common spaces make it a wonderful place to spend time together, whether over leisurely breakfasts, afternoon naps or long conversations. The house embraces an open, breezy design that fills every room with natural light, fresh air and an incredibly welcoming feel.

Perhaps our favourite part? Not a single piece of furniture was bought from a store. Everything you see in the house has been lovingly passed down through generations of the family. From wooden chairs and cabinets to dining tables and everyday objects, each piece has lived a full life before finding a place here, giving the home warmth, stories and a timeless charm that's hard to put into words.

Originally designed as a family home, Naimisha Aranya is especially lovely for groups of family and friends looking to spend time together. Four bedrooms, spacious verandahs, a central courtyard and plenty of room to spread out mean everyone can gather when they want to, and find a quiet corner when they don't.

Activities at Naimisha Aranya

You're in a farm restored to natural, regenerative abundance from a really barren state! Walk around the farm, observe, have conversations around natural farming, and learn how nature can be a great ally. Given the abundance and diversity - over 200 fruit trees, including 25 varieties of bananas and 40+ varieties of guavas - the farm is a magnet for birds and if you enjoy birdwatching, it's perfect. Leisurely walks around the quiet neighbourhood also give you a peek into rural life not far from the otherwise bustling, mad city. There's also a small library, board games and outdoor games to keep things fun. If the weather permits, we'll setup a bonfire in the evenings, though given wood is a scarce resource, we request your help to keep it small and short. There are 3 friendly resident dogs who love company and can keep your entertained throughout your stay all by themselves :) If you bring pets, though, it's good to first figure out the dynamics between them and take a call on how much interaction is desirable. Quiet corners to read, relax and simply slow down, of course, because that's what we'd love you to do most on a Linger vacation.... The meals are fresh, simple, wholesome, and the cuisine local and vegetarian with eggs, using fresh seasonal ingredients wherever possible. You're at a natural farm and we try our best to add ingredients from right there whenever we can!

Getting To Naimisha Aranya

https://maps.app.goo.gl/TxTZLx78XVr997Mj7 Take the Tumkur Road and turn off on to the Mangalore Highway. You have to get off the highway in barely 4 kms and in about 6 kms more, you get to the farm. It's unbelievably close to the city! It's also fairly close to the T.G.Halli Reservoir, into which the Kumudavati River that originates in Shivagange flows, passing close by to the farm.
